Why AI Cannot Print or Diagnose Your Printer
An AI chatbot has no printer, no paper and no ink. How the Printer Test Page Works

- Print at 100% scale. Click Print Test Page and confirm the dialog is set to Actual Size (100%) with scaling turned off so the alignment marks stay true.
- Read the result. Compare your printed sheet against the reference notes on this page to identify the fault.

How to Read Each Sheet
- Colour / CMYK: every block and tint should be solid and even. A blank, pale or streaky channel means that colour is not being laid down.
- Nozzle & banding: the fine lines should be unbroken and evenly spaced. White gaps or light stripes indicate clogged nozzles or a dirty printhead.
- Alignment: cross-hairs should meet in the centre and concentric circles should stay round. Offset marks mean printhead alignment or paper feed issues.
- Text sharpness: small type should be crisp. Blurry or doubled letters point to a misaligned printhead or low-quality draft mode.
What is a printer test page?
A printer test page is a standard reference sheet that you print to check if your printer works well. It contains color blocks, a grey scale, fine lines, alignment marks and text samples.
Why is my printer printing with banding or stripes?
Banding usually means inkjet nozzles are partially clogged or a cartridge is low on ink. Print the nozzle test sheet, run the printer's built-in printhead cleaning cycle two or three times, then print the sheet again. If the bands stay in the same place, clean the printhead or replace the cartridge.
Why is one colour missing or weak from my prints?
A missing colour points to a clogged nozzle or an empty cartridge for that ink channel. The colour test page shows solid blocks and tints for cyan, magenta, yellow and black, so you can see exactly which channel is failing. Run a nozzle check, clean the printhead, or replace the affected cartridge.
How do I print this test page at 100% actual size?
Open the print dialog and set the scale to 100% or Actual Size. Turn off Fit to Page and any Margin or Expand options, and disable headers and footers. The alignment marks on the sheet are only meaningful when nothing rescales the page.
Does this test page work with HP, Epson, Canon and Brother printers?
Yes. The sheet uses standard CMYK, grey scale and alignment elements that every inkjet and laser printer can reproduce. Brand-specific instructions are noted in the guide, but the diagnostic patterns themselves are universal.
How do I fix a clogged printhead nozzle?
Most printers have a head cleaning utility in the driver or the printer's own menu. Run it, wait for the cycle to finish, then print a nozzle check. Repeat once or twice, then let the printer rest. If the clog persists after several cycles, clean the printhead manually or replace the cartridge.
Can an AI or chatbot print or diagnose my printer?
No. A chatbot has no access to a physical printer and cannot see what comes out of it. It can only give generic advice. The only way to diagnose a printer is to print a real test page and inspect it, which is exactly what this tool is for.
How often should I print a test page?
Run a quick test when you install new cartridges, after a printer has been idle for a while, or whenever print quality drops. A monthly colour check keeps inkjet nozzles active and catches problems early.
