Free seating chart maker. No signup, no guest limit, names stay on your device.
Paste a guest or class list, set rules such as keep these two apart or seat these two together, and the solver assigns every chair in one click. Drag any name to fine-tune, then print a clean chart for the venue or the classroom wall. Wedding tables and classroom desks in one tool.

How the seating chart maker works
1. Choose the room
Class desks lays out rows, pairs, pods of four or a U-shape. Wedding tables lays out round tables, any count and any seat count. Both modes share the same names, rules and solver, so a classroom and a banquet hall come from the same work.
2. Paste the list
One name per line, straight from a spreadsheet column or a guest sheet. Duplicate names are flagged. The layout can be resized at any time without losing the names.
3. Add rules and assign
Keep apart is a hard constraint: the solver never leaves two keep-apart names side by side in a row, pod, pair or table. Keep together is a preference the solver works to satisfy, and the chart highlights satisfied rules green and unsatisfied rules red. Auto-assign re-runs the solver every time you change a rule.
4. Fine-tune and print
Drag a name onto another chair to swap them, or tap a name and then a chair on a phone. Every manual swap is re-checked against the rules. Print gives a clean one-page chart, Download PNG gives a crisp image, and Share link copies a URL that opens the identical chart on another device.
Why a chatbot cannot seat your room
Seating a party with rules is a constraint problem, not a writing task. The solver here checks every keep-apart pair against the real adjacency of the layout you built, keeps keep-together pairs in the same table or pod where capacity allows, re-validates after each manual drag, and then produces the deliverable: an editable chart and a print-ready page. A chat window cannot render that chart, cannot keep it editable while you drag guests, and cannot guarantee a stated rule still holds after the tenth rearrangement. Names stay in your browser, which matters for a class roster, so nothing is uploaded, saved or shared unless you choose Share link.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a seating chart?
Pick Room mode for wedding tables or Class mode for desks, paste one name per line, then click Auto-assign. Drag any name to a different chair if you want changes, then use Print to get a clean chart for the venue or the classroom wall.
Is the seating chart maker really free?
Yes. No signup, no account, no watermark and no guest limit. Auto-assign with unlimited rules is free, printing and PNG download are free, and nothing is ever saved on a server.
How do keep apart and keep together rules work?
Keep apart seats the two names with no seat between them, never side by side in a row, pod, pair or table. Keep together puts the two names in the same row, pod, pair or table. Rules apply to every auto-assign, and the tool names any pair it cannot satisfy.
Can it seat a whole wedding party?
Yes. Room mode supports round tables with any number of seats per table, so a reception with a dozen tables seats in one click. Names stay on your device, so guest lists never reach any server.
Is it safe for student data?
Names are typed into the page and stored only in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded to this site or anywhere else, which is why teachers can use it without a district approval process.
How many people can I seat?
There is no hard guest limit. The chart stays readable up to roughly two hundred guests, and the solver still finishes in about a second at that size. The print layout adjusts to whatever chart you built.
Can I share the chart with someone else?
Click Share link to copy a URL that rebuilds the same names, rules and seat assignments on their device. The whole chart travels inside the link, so no account or cloud storage is involved.
Why can a chatbot not do this job?
A chatbot can list suggested pairings, but it cannot render a real chart, keep it editable while you drag guests around, or guarantee that every stated rule still holds after the tenth change. This tool runs a deterministic solver that re-checks every rule each time, and it produces a print-ready chart, not a paragraph of prose.
