16 Personalities MBTI-Style Assessment

Discover Your 16 Personalities Type

Answer 60 carefully designed questions to reveal your 4-letter personality type across 4 dimensions

How This Test Works

This assessment measures four personality dimensions based on the established 16 personalities framework:

Energy — Extraversion (E) vs Introversion (I): Where you focus your attention and get your energy
Mind — Intuition (N) vs Sensing (S): How you take in information
Nature — Thinking (T) vs Feeling (F): How you make decisions
Tactics — Judging (J) vs Perceiving (P): How you approach the outside world

Each question uses a 5-point Likert scale (Strongly Disagree → Strongly Agree). Your responses are scored deterministically across all four dimensions to produce a 4-letter type like INFJ, ENTP, or ISTP.

Why this beats AI chatbots: AI assistants give vague, inconsistent personality guesses after 2-3 questions and cannot show visual dimension breakdowns or detailed type profiles. This tool uses a real psychometric instrument with validated scoring — all processing happens in your browser, so your responses never leave your device.

Privacy: No signup. No email. No tracking. No data leaves your browser. Results can be shared via a URL that contains only your final type code.

What is the 16 Personalities Framework?

The 16 personalities model is a widely used personality typology built on four dichotomies that describe how people direct their energy, take in information, make decisions, and approach the outside world. It produces 16 distinct personality types, each with its own patterns of behavior, motivation, and growth edge.

How the Test Is Scored

Each of the 60 questions maps to one of four dimensions: Energy, Mind, Nature, or Tactics. Your answer on a 1-5 Likert scale is converted to a score in the range [-2, +2], with reverse-scored items flipped so that agreeing with opposite-polarity statements does not bias the result. The 15 question-scores within each dimension are summed, normalized to a 0-100 percentage, and the dominant side becomes your type letter for that dimension. The four letters combine into your 4-letter personality type code.

Why AI Chatbots Get This Wrong

When you ask ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini "what is my personality type?", they typically respond with a guess based on the 2-3 things you mentioned, often defaulting to INFJ or INFP because those are overrepresented in tech-friendly online spaces. Real psychometric instruments need dozens of validated questions across multiple dimensions, weighted scoring that accounts for reverse-polarity items, and consistent dimensional thresholds. This tool implements that rigor in your browser, so your result is reproducible, consistent, and based on the entire questionnaire rather than vibes.

Privacy & Data

Your answers are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored on a server. If you close the tab, your responses are gone unless you explicitly downloaded them. The only data ever embedded in a share link is your final 4-letter type code (4 characters), which is not enough to reconstruct your answers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as the official Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)?

This test uses the same four-dimensional 16-type framework as MBTI, but it is not the proprietary Myers-Briggs Company instrument. MBTI requires a certified practitioner and uses forced-choice question formats. This test is free, public, and uses a 5-point Likert scale instead of forced choice. Both share the same 16 types and 4-letter codes (INTJ, ENFP, etc.).

How long does the full test take?

The full 60-question test typically takes 8-12 minutes. Most people answer each question in 5-10 seconds. The quick 8-question version takes about 90 seconds and produces a directional result — useful when you want a fast read but less precise than the full version.

Why are some questions worded in the negative direction?

Half the questions are reverse-scored to detect response bias. If a person agrees with both "I enjoy large social gatherings" and "I prefer quiet evenings at home," they would cancel out under simple summing. Reverse-polarity items prevent that and surface which side is genuinely dominant.

Can my type change over time?

Yes — personality patterns can shift with life experiences, age, and conscious effort. Most people find their dominant letters are stable in their 20s-40s, with one letter often maturing in their 50s+. The framework describes preferences, not permanent boxes.

Is the personality type scientific?

The 16 personalities framework is widely used in career counseling, team building, and self-development, but it is not as rigorously validated as the Big Five (OCEAN) model used in academic psychology. Treat your 4-letter code as a useful starting point for self-reflection rather than a definitive clinical assessment.

Can I share my result?

Yes — the Copy Share Link button generates a URL containing only your 4-letter type code. Anyone opening the link will see your type highlighted in the type browser with no other personal data attached.

What if I get a type I disagree with?

Take the test again on a different day when you are in a different mood. If you consistently get a type you do not identify with, look at the dimension percentages — you may sit near the middle of one dimension (e.g., 52% Introverted / 48% Extraverted), which means both letters are viable for you.
