Browser TTS Notes

Browser text-to-speech uses your device's built-in voices. Available voices vary by browser and operating system.

  • Chrome: Most voices available (200+ voices)
  • Edge: Microsoft voices + online voices
  • Firefox: Limited voices, may not work on all systems
  • Safari: macOS voices only

Why Use Text to Speech?

Text to speech (TTS) converts written text into natural-sounding audio. Our tool offers two modes:

  • AI Voices — High-quality neural voices from SiliconFlow CosyVoice2. 8 distinct voices (4 male, 4 female) with natural intonation. Supports English and Chinese. Download as MP3 or WAV.
  • Browser TTS — Instant playback using your device's built-in speech synthesis. No server processing, works offline with downloaded voices. Great for quick reads.

Common Uses

  • Proofread essays and articles by listening
  • Create voice-overs for videos and presentations
  • Learn pronunciation in English or Chinese
  • Accessibility: hear text for users with visual impairments
  • Convert blog posts to audio for podcasts
  • Practice listening comprehension for language learning

AI Voice List

Our AI mode uses SiliconFlow CosyVoice2 with 8 voices:

  • Female: Anna (natural), Bella (warm), Claire (clear), Diana (elegant)
  • Male: Alex (friendly), Benjamin (deep), Charles (professional), David (youthful)

All 8 voices support English and Chinese text. Speed can be adjusted from 0.5x to 2x.

Text to Speech vs AI Chatbots

While AI chatbots can describe how words sound, they cannot produce audio. TTS tools solve a fundamentally different problem — turning text into listenable audio. This is something no text-based AI can do.

Privacy

Browser TTS mode processes everything locally on your device. AI voice mode sends your text to our server for audio generation — the text is not stored or logged.
